Mortgage financing is a specialised field of loan financing. The term mortgage comes from the word mort meaning death or death of the loan or the reduction or amortization of the loan. Mortgage financing is long term in nature over a period of 7 years upto 20 years. The mortgage repayments are usually repaid on a monthly basis. One can think of mortgage repayments as a forced saving but at the same time buying an appreciating asset such as the house.
